SPRINGFIELD, Ill., June 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich signed The Lead Poisoning Prevention Act of 2006 today, establishing a prevention-driven response to childhood lead poisoning for the first time.

Previously, Illinois law and policy only responded after a child had been poisoned. This new law sets out measures that will prevent children from becoming poisoned. It also includes measures that will help educate the public about lead poisoning and hold stakeholders accountable if they don't comply with the new law.
