The Sleep Research Society applauds the Institute of Medicine
(IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences for recognizing the adverse
impact of sleep disorders and sleep deprivation on public health in
its report entitled "Sleep Disorders and Sleep Deprivation: An Unmet
Public Health Problem" (IOM Report), which was released on April 4,
2006. The 2006 IOM Report updates and reinforces the prior
