Article: Consumer Reports Survey Finds Good Fuel Economy, Not Incentives, Is Key Factor Driving Showroom Traffic

YONKERS, N.Y., Aug. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- New car shoppers ranked fuel economy as their most important consideration, closely followed by reliability of the car, according to the latest survey by Consumer Reports National Research Center.

The greatest number of respondents to CR's survey, 27 percent, said that fuel economy is the number-one consideration when shopping for a new vehicle. Respondents cited fuel economy as their top consideration, higher than reliability (25 percent), purchase price (14 percent), safety features (12 percent) and manufacturer and dealer incentives.

Only five percent of car shoppers said incentives were the most important factor in their purchase decision.
