The problem of where to keep a wine rack in a small apartment
has plagued cramped city dwellers ever since Chardonnay and Cabernet
Sauvignon became kitchen staples.
"Don't put it on top of your refrigerator! Don't keep it near a
heating vent!" cry the oenophiles.
Now, an ingenious steel wine rack created by the British
industrial designer Simon Pont has solved the problem by using the
principle of cantilevering. Bottles are held by their necks in a
horizontal position. The rack, called Manhattan, measures 2 1/2
inches by 28 inches, holds 12 bottles of wine, and comes in white or
black; it can be mounted with four screws with plastic anchors high
