Zambia's newly-elected PresidentLevy Mwanawasa arrived in Malawi's
commercial capital of Blantyre Sunday to attend a Southern African
Development Community (SADC) summit.
Mwanawasa was greeted by Malawian President Bakili Muluzi and
given a thunderous welcome at Chileka International Airport when his
presidential jet touched down.
The Zambian News Agency quoted Mwanawasa as telling
journaliststhat Zambia will continue to play a leading role in all
initiatives aimed at bringing lasting peace to the economic and
political problems that have engulfed the sub-region.
