Article: Super Eagles to Have Foreign Coach for World Cup

Nigeria's Super Eagles will hire a foreign coach for the 2002 Japan/South Korea World Cup following the sacking of Shaibu Amodu, Nigeria's Sports Minister Ishaya Mark Aku announced here on Tuesday.

"Plans are at an advanced stage to employ a foreign trainer for the World Cup," said the sports minister."We're discussing with sponsors and some friends of Nigeria and they have agreed to take care of his remuneration while he is with us."

The minister's new decision is absolutely contrary to what he has said recently that Nigeria will not hire a foreign coach for the World Cup. But he stressed that the would-be foreign coach will work under chief coach Festus ...
