In 1990, the magazine was officially renamed "China Today",
tokeep pace with the tremendous changes in China since the opening-
up policy was carried out in 1978.
Youssef Amin Wali, Egypt's deputy prime minister and minister of
Agriculture and also chairman of the Egypt-China Friendship
Association, said, "I have learned through "China Today" that China
has made great achievements in the fields of infrastructure,economy
and agricultural modernization under the leadership of president
Jiang Zemin, and has a long-history of civilization which enlightens
the world."
