Article: World Urban Forum Calls for Sustainable Urbanization

NAIROBI, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The first ever World Urban Forum concluded here on Friday at the Headquarters of the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), with participants agreeing that sustainable urbanization is crucial to national and global sustainable development and to the providing of adequate shelter for all urban dwellers.

During the five-day session, more than 1,000 participants, almost twice as many than expected, discussed a range of issues from the effect of HIV/AIDS on human settlements to violence against women, but the overall theme of discussions focused on sustainable urbanization.
