A few games into the season, Suitland Coach Tyrone Massenburg sat
down with his players and analyzed a chart showing the team's shots -
- those made and those missed -- to see where they were having
success.
It did not take long to figure things out.
"We were going 1-for-10, 0-for-10, 0-for-6" on three-point
attempts, Massenburg said. "That's not our game."
While the three-point arc seems awfully inviting at 19 feet 9
inches, Suitland (14-4) and two of the county's other top teams --
Oxon Hill (12-4) and Crossland (14-3) -- view the shot with
considerable skepticism. Some coaches think they need an outside
shooter to prevent opponents from sagging into zone defenses, but the
