Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stressed Thursday that there will
be no use to hold a Middle East peace conference without the
participation of Lebanon or Syria.
The statement came amid reports that the United States is
campaigning to convene an international peace conference this summer.
"Any conference, be it regional or international, will lead to
nowhere in the quest for a just and comprehensive Middle East
peaceunless Lebanon and Syria are both present," Lahoud was quoted as
