Coalition between ANC, IFP in S. Africa poised to end: report

JOHANNESBURG, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The ever-weakening coalition between the ruling African National Congress (ANC) and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) was poised to end at the IFP annual general conference, local newspaper City Press reported Sunday.

Sounding the death knell on relations at all levels between the two parties, IFP national organizer Albert Mangaqa Mncwango told reporters that IFP supporters had called on party leaders to end the four-year-old political romance with the ANC.

The two parties had heavy quarrels on many issues, especially with regard to the stalled floor-crossing legislation.
