George Brett, named to the AL all-star team as a reserve, thereby
realized a $50,000 bonus in his Royals contract. Of the 56 players
selected for Tuesday's game in Oakland, 25 have all-star bonus
clauses, ranging from $5,000 for Brewers reliever Dan Plesac to
$50,000 for Brett and the Cubs' Andre Dawson, elected to the NL team.
