Lazy civil servants in Malaysia criticized

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Monday expressed concern over some civil servants who are lazy and have neither the motivation to work nor ideas to develop their organization.

He said that while Malaysian civil servants were on the whole efficient, it was feared that the attitude of these "seat warmers" would spread to the others.

The government wants every civil servant to be highly motivated, efficient and capable of bringing progress to their organization, he told a news conference in north state of Penang after opening a convention on good governance for local authorities.
