Writethru: China, Nauru establish diplomatic relations (1)
BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The People's Republic of China and
the Republic of Nauru established diplomatic relations on July 21,
2002, according to a press release issued by the Chinese Foreign
Ministry here Sunday.
Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong and Nauru
President Rene Harris, on behalf of the two governments, signed
Sunday in Hong Kong a joint communique on the establishment of
diplomatic relations.
The communique says China and Nauru "have decided upon mutual
recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations at
ambassadorial level as from 21 July 2002."
