Australian wheat rejected by Iraq

CANBERRA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi authorities have reportedly refused to accept four shiploads of Australian wheat, claiming the wheat is contaminated.

The Australian Associated Press reported Thursday that more than 130,000 tons of Australian wheat has been held up in the Middle East.

Spokesman for Australia's wheat exporting body AWB, Peter McBride, was quoted as saying that two ships had been told to stop unloading, while two others have anchored in nearby Oman awaiting a resolution to the row.

McBride said an independent adjudicator had been called in and would examine the shipments this weekend to rule on the contamination ...
