People living with AIDS advised to eat traditional foods

HARARE, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- People living with HIV and AIDS should eat traditional foods as they have original nutrients which boost the immune system, an official with the Network of African People Living With HIV and AIDS said here on Thursday.

"People should eat foods like sweet potatoes, vegetables and unrefined sadza as these are easier to find than yoghurt or cheese, " said the organization's national program coordinator Jefta Mxotsha.

"Many people living with AIDS do not understand the health damages which occur when they eat junk food, canned food or refined food," he said.
