South Korea vows to beat Japan in Asian Games

BUSAN, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- South Korea doesn't care whether China becomes a runaway leader on the Asian Games medal table - simply because China is unstoppable. The host country has a more important job to do - prevent its perennial rival Japan from being second.

South Korea sends 1,007 athletes and officials, the largest ever, to the Asian version of Olympic Games. About 770 athletes are to compete in 37 sports, all except kabaddi.

Ever since China topped the games in 1982, South Korea has slugged it out with Japan for second place.
