Canberra asks UN to list Jemaah Islamiyah as terrorist
CANBERRA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Australian Prime Minister John
Howard said Tuesday his government would ask the United Nations to
have the Indonesian Islamic organization Jemaah Islamiyah added to
the list of terrorist groups.
He said his government will be moving "to have Jemaah Islamiyah
listed as a terrorist organization in the UN as soon as possible,"
according to the Australian Associated Press.
He said there was "mounting evidence of al-Qaeda involvement
together with Jemaah Islamiyah, in the attack" in Bali.
Since 9.11 terrorist attacks, Australia has been insisting to
crack down on Jemaah Islamiyah, the Islamic community.
