China to continue active participation in UN activities

BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- China will continue to take an active part in all United Nations activities, said Chinese Vice- Premier Qian Qichen here Tuesday afternoon at a meeting with visiting UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Qian said China attached great importance to and supported the strengthening of the UN's role in international affairs, and it would continue to develop cooperation with the UN.

He said that in the past five decades, the UN had made great efforts to safeguard world peace and promote common development with remarkable achievements.
