Brazilian Barros beats world champion Rossi in Valencia Grand Prix
MADRID, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian Alex Barros defeated world
champion Valentino Rossi to win the Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday,
ending the Italian's hope of matching Mick Doohan's record for most
wins in a season.
Rossi, who has been assured of the world championship in the
first season of Moto GP, yet needed another victory to equal
Doohan's 1997 record of 12 triumphs in a single year.
However, Barros, who switched to the four-stroke Honda, roared
into the lead on the first lap and maintained an advantage as the
race drew to a close.
