Study shows carbon dioxide retards plant growth
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Elevated atmospheric carbon
dioxide (CO2) can reduce plant growth when combined with other
likely consequences of climate change, a study published in the Dec.
6 issue of Science concludes.
The study, conducted in Stanford University, raises questions
about the prevailing view among scientists that global climate
change may cause some crops and trees to grow bigger and faster.
