US to sell military equipment to Algeria

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Bush administration will sell military equipment to the government of Algeria to help combat Islamic militants, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.

US officials said that no decisions had been made on how large the package of military equipment might be, or what would be sold, but that items were likely to include night-vision gear for use by individuals or on military vehicles.
