Israeli defense minister to visit US to discuss strike against Iraq

JERUSALEM, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz will leave Saturday for Washington in his first visit to the United States as defense minister, Israel Radio reported.

Mofaz is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, National Security advisor Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of State Colin Powell, as well as UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Their talks will focus on the possible US strike against Iraq and the security situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
