Sarah LeBrun of Owings Mills, who recently won her second
straight Maryland Women's Amateur title, shot 73 yesterday at
Columbia Country Club and led nine qualifiers for the upcoming U.S.
Women's Amateur. The Women's Amateur is Aug. 17-22 in Barrington,
R.I.
Susan Slaughter of Blacksburg, Va., and Donna Andrews of
Lynchburg, Va., were second at 74, followed at 75 by Vickie Moran of
Fairmont, W.Va., and Jennifer Kreps of Norfolk.
Carolyn McKenzie of Paoli, Pa., qualified with 77, followed by
Marian Sison of Arlington, 78; Tina Barrett of Baltimore, 79, and
Janice Albert of Lafayette Hills, Pa., 80. Brenda Seymour of
Chantilly lost out to Albert in a six-hole playoff for the final
spot.
