No unconditional release of government soldiers: Sri Lankan
rebels
COLOMBO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's separatist Tamil Tiger
rebels have told the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) that they
would not unconditionally release six government soldiers taken
captive in Trincomalle in northeast of the country on Sept. 25, The
Island newspaper said on Monday.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels conveyed their
position to SLMM head Trond Furuhovde when he met the LTTE political
wing leader Thamil Chelvam in Kilinochchi in the north of the
country on Sunday to help secure the early release of the detained
soldiers.
