Khatami urges Persian Gulf states to stop foreign interference

TEHRAN, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mohammad Khatami Tuesday urged the Persian Gulf states to "work out a prudent and appropriate plan" to stop foreign interference in the region and stave off another war.

Khatami made the remarks while addressing the 13th international conference on the Persian Gulf, which was to study the growing crisis in the Persian Gulf region and the entire Middle East, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Khatami called on the participants in the conference to draw up a framework for collective policy-making in order to deal with the regional issues of the Persian Gulf.
