DPRK refutes US remarks on religious freedom

PYONGYANG, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Monday refuted US remarks on religious freedom, saying it fully guarantees the religious freedom of its citizens.

The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a commentary that it is the United States that makes religion a plaything of politics.

"It is the United States that has made religion a plaything of politics and is suppressing true freedom of religious belief. It also has the poorest human rights record," the commentary said.
