Vietnam's exported rice value increases in 2002

HANOI, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's rice export value increased about 18 percent in 2002, said general secretary of the Vietnam Food Association Nguyen Thi Nguyet on Thursday.

The general secretary of the Vietnam Food Association attributed the increase of exported rice value mainly to the rice price hike. The average price of Vietnamese rice stood at 186 US dollars per ton last year, 30 US dollars higher than that in 2001, said Nguyet.
