NATO holds signing ceremony with would-be members

BRUSSELS, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Amid US-led war against Iraq, NATO held a special meeting Wednesday with Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia for the signing ceremony of the Protocols of Accession.

"This is, by far, the largest number of countries ever to join NATO at once," NATO Secretary-General George Robertson said at the meeting between ambassadors from 19 NATO members and foreign ministers from the seven candidates.
