Arroyo sets 2.5 bln pesos for automation in election
MANILA, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-
Arroyo has ordered the immediate release of 2.5 billion pesos (46.64
million US dollars) for implementation of automated vote counting and
canvassing for the national and local elections.
"We are making sure that this very important aspect of the
electoral process will have funding and the process to acquire the
equipment necessary will start immediately,"the Manila Bulletin on-
line news Saturday quoted presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye as
saying.
With this order, Arroyo direct the Department of Budget and
Management to allocate the 2.5 billion pesos in full to ...
