Taxi driver in SW China honored for bravery

CHONGQING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A taxi driver who almost died after trying to stop a robbery in southwest China's Chongqing City has been honored for his courage with a lifetime taxi license.

Twenty-six-year-old Zhang Chuan came upon the crime a week ago when he saw two thieves trying to escape after robbing a female university student.

Zhang got out of his car to help the woman retrieve her property, but was stabbed during the fracas. He was hospitalized and his condition has just been downgraded from critical.
