LEONARD EWING SCOTT,

91, a former investment counselor whose conviction in 1957 on charges of murdering his socialite wife paved the way for other prosecutions in "no body" cases, died Aug. 17 at a nursing home in Los Angeles. The cause of death was not reported.

The body of Evelyn Throsby Scott was never found, though her dentures, glasses, and other personal items were found near an incinerator in the back yard of the Scotts' residence in Los Angeles. Mr. Scott denied killing his wife and later refused all opportunities for parole, saying acceptance would make it appear that he was guilty. He was imprisoned for 21 years before being released in 1978.
