Malaysia mulls building water sports stadium

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Xinhua) -- As a leading organizer of powerboat races, Malaysia will add another feather to its cap in water sports if plans to build an aquadome come to fruition, national news agency Bernama reported Monday.

The proposed water sports stadium would bring all national and international water sports events in the country under one roof.

If built, it would serve as a permanent venue for the Formula one World Powerboat Championship and related events.

Yahya Abdul Jalil, the man behind the Formula one Powerboat Championship in Malaysia, said the project was still in the planning and discussion stage.
