Cyprus criticizes Turkey for siding with Turkish Cypriots

NICOSIA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Cyprus said on Friday that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is totally in line with the positions and the policy of Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash.

Speaking after a ministerial meeting, government spokesman Kypros Chrisostomides said the efforts made by the Erdogan government to give an impression that it now takes a more flexible position on Cyprus is just a political device.

"No hopes should be placed on expecting a change in the intransigent position of the Turkish government any time soon regarding the Cyprus problem," he said.
