Webber to miss rest of NBA playoffs with knee injury

WASHINGTON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Sacramento Kings center Chris Webber will be out of action for the remainder of the NBA playoffs because of a torn cartilage in his left knee, the team announced on Friday.

An MRI scan on Webber, who sustained the injury late in the third quarter of Thursday night's playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks, revealed a torn meniscus which will require arthroscopic surgery.

No date was announced for the surgery, but the rehabilitation period is expected to be between four and six weeks, the team said.
