SADC seeks fund to curb foot, mouth disease
DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Southern African
Development Community (SADC) is seeking 26 million US dollars to
control foot and mouth disease and other trans-boundary animal
diseases in the next three years.
According to a report of SADC secretariat on Thursday, the
organization has prepared a program of action to form a regional foot
and mouth disease control policy, carry out mass vaccinations along
the borders, and have livestock identification and movement control.
SADC recently completed an emergency audit covering Botswana,
Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe and called for immediate
