HERSHEY -- Thomas Jefferson could have buckled when it lost its
running back and quarterback earlier this season, but senior Zach
DeCicco wouldn't let it happen.
The receiver-turned-quarterback came up big Friday night and led
Thomas Jefferson (16-0) to a 28-3 victory over Garnet Valley (13-2)
in the PIAA Class AAA championship game at Hersheypark Stadium.
DeCicco completed 10-of-17 passes for 137 yards and two
touchdowns and rushed for 71 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown.
He also intercepted two passes.
DeCicco, who volunteered to take over at quarterback in Week 8
when Tyler Wehner was dismissed from the team, helped lead Thomas
Jefferson to its second PIAA title in four years.
