Article: Holmes County Prevention coalition works to educate on drug tolerance trends

MILLERSBURG -- The death of a West Holmes student from a prescription drug overdose represents an increasing trend of young people using prescription drugs, a problem that an emerging coalition hopes to address through preventive means.

Backed by two years of data and research, the Holmes County Prevention Coalition is assembling community resources to address existing ideas that are tolerant of certain forms of substance abuse in teens and young people. Building on community groups, businesses and individuals, the group hopes to battle these perceptions, or "norms," in a community that encourage substance abuse as an acceptable behavior.
