Rich Rodriguez, son of a coal miner from Grant Town, W.Va., will
take on the challenge of restoring one of college football's most-
storied programs.
The former West Virginia coach will accept the Michigan job at 9
a.m. today at a news conference in Ann Arbor, Mich., officials at
both schools confirmed.
He will replace Lloyd Carr, who announced his retirement last
month after 13 seasons.
Rodriguez broke the news to his team during an emotional, 10-
minute meeting Sunday in Morgantown, W.Va.
Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor, one of Rodriguez's top
recruiting prospects, said he also was informed of the coach's
decision yesterday.
