Article: More crazy schemes in St Austell

The long-suffering citizens of St Austell thought after their expressed preference for "a covered, distinctive centre that provided a civic hall" had been brushed aside and further government funding (our money) provided in June to subsidise a developer, that perhaps the madness might stop there. It's bad enough that we are promised an appalling "clone" town centre and an iconic centre rejected - but no, the madness continues.

The latest council wheeze is to provide probably the finest Regency house in town as a home for early release prisoners with drug and alcohol problems. No one denies that ex-prisoners need help, but this must be a case of casting pearls before swine.
