A Top new research lab for the fishing industry will be built in
Aberdeen.
The Scottish Government has confirmed it will fund the
pounds12.3 million Fish Health Laboratory in Torry.
Work will begin after April and it should be finished by 2010.
The new facility will replace the dilapidated research centre in
Torry and will be the centrepiece of a pounds60 million regeneration
of the waterfront.
It will also allow the Fisheries Research Service to expand its
operations and tackle the future of fish stocks.
Plans to build it were first revealed in the Evening Express in
November 2004.
