It's spring! The phone hasn't quit ringing with calls from people giving up kittens and puppies. We're also receiving calls from landlords who have found animals left by former tenants. What in the world are these people thinking? Leaving an animal shut up in an apartment or house to fend for itself is absolutely outrageous. The dogs these landlords find are usually left in the yard with no shelter, food or water. These are calls we receive on a daily basis.

Responsibility, commitment, trust and loyalty. I'm not sure those words mean anything to the individuals who desert animals.

I remember a couple of very young puppies we had in our program a few years ago: two ordinary black Lab mixes ...
