KANSAS CITY - The rookie second baseman sits alone in front of his
stall in the visitor's locker room. Legs spread in front of him and
right elbow resting on his thigh, Ian Kinsler looks down in
concentration at his hand-held Tiger Woods Golf video game.
He has time. It's 3:30 p.m., 31/2 hours before game time.
Teammates are scattered about the clubhouse. A handful sit around a
table playing cards. Some are slumped into one of the over-stuffed
couches watching "Dumb and Dumber."
Kinsler arrived at Kauffman Stadium at 1:45 p.m. to take early
batting practice with hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. After that, he
settles in.
