Work ahead: Buy a small picnic ham and grind it in a meat grinder with the fine attachment or carefully pulse the meat in a food processor until it is finely chopped. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

To serve: Let the pie cool for a bit, then serve it warm or at room temperature. Refrigerate any leftovers.
