Article: TRIBUNE COLUMN University Concert Series brings stars to Columbia

On Feb. 21, 1908, Vladimir de Pachmann, one of the world's leading pianists, performed at University Auditorium on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus, and an unbroken tradition was born - the University Concert Series.

The series will open its second century Sept. 27 with the annual "Beer and Wines of the World" kickoff party. The first on-stage performance will be Oct. 22 - Yamato: The Drummers of Japan. The traditional taiko drums of Japan will usher in 38 diverse shows at Jesse Auditorium.
