Chris Carpenter knew his time would come, and he wasn't afraid to
wait a little bit longer.
As the Kent State pitcher recovered from Tommy John surgery that
took away the last three weeks of his freshman season and all of his
sophomore campaign, Kent State Coach Scott Stricklin toyed with the
idea of starting Carpenter in the season-opening game against Wake
Forest.
But after throwing a couple of bullpen sessions, Carpenter decided
that his right arm wasn't ready.
The wait has paid off for Carpenter and the Golden Flashes.
In his sixth start of the season, Carpenter takes the mound
against Missouri at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Stadium in the NCAA
Tournament Regional.
