Article: LIVING OUT LOUD `Thank you' goes a long way

Not only does this week mark the start of fall, but tomorrow happens to be National Thank You Day. Because this week's Pulse has plenty of fall-related stories, I've decided to focus on saying "thank you."

It's surprising how often we don't thank people. A male friend once told me a pet peeve of his is when he holds a door open for a woman and she doesn't thank him. Chivalry might be dead, he said, but so apparently is the "thank you". This is a perfect example of society's assumption that a "thank you" isn't required if the act was expected.
