Sand Creek owned a fourpoint lead in the fourth quarter but
couldn't finish the job Thursday against Alamosa in a pool play game
of the Panther Classic girls basketball tournament at Harrison.
The Scorpions lost 49-39 to the Class 4A Mean Moose (1-3), who
closed the contest with a 17-3 spurt. Alamosa senior point guard
Katie Bussey scored seven of her game-high 28 points in the final
quarter.
"We're showing improvement every game," said second-year Sand
Creek coach Autumn Sereno, whose team is 1-4.
Alamosa's full-court press rattled the Class 5A Scorpions, who
also lost the ball in half-court sets. Inconsistency plagued Sand
