LITTLE Aston residents and shopkeepers are fighting plans to build a new Tesco Express in Rosemary Hill Road which they fear will hit small stores.

The supermarket giant has applied to Birmingham City Council to knock down the Regal Garage and build a new store.

But shop owners in Little Aston are concerned that the store will take trade away from their shops.

Joga Singh, from Raj News on Clarence Road, has been trading for 13 years.

He said: "It is not long since a convenience store opened and that has affected trade.

"There are already enough shops nearby and Mere Green supermarkets are only a few miles away.
