CHEYENNE - After spending nearly two months in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom, 20 airmen returned to Cheyenne Wednesday,
just in time for Christmas.
And although the service members missed Thanksgiving and even one
child's first birthday, the family and friends of those returning
said they were just grateful to have them home safe.
The active-duty airmen are part of the 30th Airlift Squadron,
hosted by the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Airlift Wing in
Cheyenne. The deployment was the squadron's first assignment in
Iraq.
Their mission, which began in October, was to provide airlift
support for U.S. forces in Iraq. Their replacements left ...
